Thanks to Astrid (http://astridswords.ca) for nominating me for The Versatile Blogger Award. Her blog shares personal experiences living with epilepsy and encouragement for all to never give up.
Since starting blogging regularly a couple months ago, I have noticed different reactions to these awards. Some view them as annoying ‘chain letters’, and others consider them as a great compliment. I can see both perspectives, but overall if it helps new bloggers (like me) get noticed, then I reckon it’s POSITIVE.
Just one more comment, before I start answering the questions and nominating others. The value of this process is increased by considering it’s criteria seriously: “consider the quality of the writing/photography, the uniqueness of the subjects covered and the level of love displayed in the words on the virtual page.” I will do my best!
The rules:
- Thank the person that has nominated you & include a link to their blog.
- Nominate at least 15 blogs of your choice.
- Link your nominees and let them know of your nomination.
- Share seven different facts about yourself.
7 Facts about Hubby / Lee:
1. I originally hoped that my wife (Lee) would regularly write on this blog too, but she’s not yet ready (although she contributed to these facts).
2. I never liked reading as a kid, possibly struggling with yet-to-be diagnosed dyslexia, and yet I seem to enjoy the writing / blogging. I love analogies.
3. We really enjoy a nice chocolate (who doesn’t!), but it can cause alot of reflux. Mars and M&Ms are favorites.
4. My wife loves to sing and I love to listen. (I didn’t get those singing genes).
5. Our dog had 6 puppies during her first year of life – now she’s nearly 9 years old and somewhat sick recently (praying for recovery).
6. We both had umbilical hernia operations as children, and we swam with dolphins, as a couple (no connection – I know).
7. I like making sushi – my wife likes to eat it!
Bonus fact: I would like to create a ‘haven’ for new bloggers dealing with mental health issues to support each other.

Yeah I’m not sure I like the whole blog award thing. I never told you but I’m grateful you nominated me for the grateful blog award. I’m really flattered and I felt bad for not saying anything cause that was super rude of me. I wasn’t feeling super grateful for anything but I’m starting to come out of my shell again. I think it’s very kind of you to spread the love. Just FYI.

Jess,
I fully get what you are saying – I wasn’t offended. As I described here, I am ambivalent about blog awards too, but if it helps “spread the love” as you put it, I think it might be worth the potential negative reactions. It’s lucky I didn’t add (as a JOKE), if you don’t accept the award and forward it on, then all these bad things will happen!!
Please reconsider accepting my Grateful Blogger Award, mainly because I am truly grateful for your support and encouragement. Or you can post about how you were nominated for the award, but chose not to accept it because you are so humble. LOL
Either way, thanks for your comment – hope you continue to feel stronger.

Hi Angela,
Thanks for your comment. Thanks for accepting the Grateful Blogger Award – I appreciate your interest in my blog and willingness to support that blog award ‘experiment’.
The feedback and smily are very encouraging, as my wife dips a toe, then a foot, then more, into the blogosphere.
I Liked your recent post “Eating Brains” – I will comment there too
Take care

Hey there, I just realized that you nominated me and I want to thank you for that. However, I am not going to participate because I couldn’t nominate 15 blogs that are written in English – a couple of weeks ago I nominated my favourite blogs for another award and I guess nominating the same blogs all over again wouldn’t make much sense. Also, I don’t think that I’m reading 15 blogs in English – I’m not a native speaker and I read lots of blogs in German (which most people who know about the versatile blogger award probably don’t understand)…I hope you’re not offended, I’m really glad that you nominated me 🙂
Thanks again and have a great week!

Thanks so much for the nomination :). I have to decline though I just don’t have the time right now to give this the proper attention it deserves. Thank you though I’m truly humbled.

Hey Gary, Thanks for your comment. I don’t think there is a time limit.
Thanks for your interest and support of my blog. From what I’ve seen so far, yours too is very meaningful and helpful for other ‘guys’ going through a difficult period in their life.
When you have time, even if you just looking for a ‘post filler’, you just need to share 7 random facts about yourself, and choose a bunch of other blogs you have found worthwhile reading – that’s it!
Cheers

Hey! I never saw that I was nominated until I searched my pen name over the net. Oh my! Thank you so much! I appreciate it (and never see it as a “chain letter”). Wait for the seven things about me. 🙂
PS: I hope your dog is feeling better now. 😀

Hey Jai,
Sorry. You didn’t receive the nomination notification comment – that was my mistake. I thought I posted one on your About page. Anyway – I am glad you found it!
I loved your answers and blog nominations.
Take care.
